Below are the events that we recommend for this weekend and beyond. Click on an event’s title to visit that event’s official web site.
- California
- San Francisco
- Uncorked! Wine Festival: May 17. Just a reminder about this event, about which we reported in last week’s “Don’t Miss” posting.
- Sierra Foothills
- Madera Spring Wine Trail Adventure: May 17 - 18, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; $20. We recommend going primarily for the Port and Desserts wines. Food and music are also included at certain of the participating wineries. This has the makings of a fun adventure.
- Sonoma Valley
- Passport to Sonoma Valley: May 17 - 18, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.; $45 for one day, $50 for the weekend, if tickets are purchased in advance. Forty wineries will be participating. If you choose to pay at the door, add $10 to the prices noted above, and then select one of the following four starting points: Viansa Winery, The Lodge at Sonoma, Valley of the Moon Winery, and St. Francis Winery.
- San Francisco
- New York
- Finger Lakes
- 3rd Annual Golden Nose Award: May 30. Just a reminder about this event, about which we reported way back in our February 20th “Don’t Miss” posting.
- New York City
- Taste of Tribeca: May 17, 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; $40. We attended this event a few years ago, and it was phenomenal. The old New York setting, the energetic atmosphere, and the food (from some of the world’s most well-regarded restaurants), collectively, make this a quintessential and truly unforgettable New York experience. If you go, don’t miss the Taste of Tribeca Wine Tasting Tour from 1 - 3 p.m., starting at 40 Hudson Street. We’d certainly be there if we were in town.
- Crushpad Open House: May 18, 2 - 6 p.m.; $0. We attended a hip Crushpad event recently at Crushpad’s warehouse in San Francisco, and it was quite a spectacle. At no cost, you’ll get to sample lots of wines from producers of whom you’ve likely never heard.
- Finger Lakes
- Washington, D.C.
- Food & Wine Festival at National Harbor: May 17 - 18. Looks to us like a great way to enjoy late spring weather in the District.
- Atlanta and Philadelphia: Nothing of interest happening this week. Tune in next Wednesday!
